Four sesquiterpene lactones were obtained from areal part of Tanacetum vulgare L., growing in the Central Kazakhstan. One of them was determined as a new compound and was named tavurine (1), three others was identilled as costunolide (2), hanfilline (3) and tamirine (4).

The repellent preparation " Tavurae" was developed on the basis of a sum of lactones from Tanecetum vulgare L. and exhibited high biological activity against insects of the in-door soil: Teranychus urtiae Koch. and greenhouse whitefly Trialerodes vaporariorium).

The preparation has a high activity against the flour beetle (Tenebrio molitor), Acarus siro L., Sitophilus granarius L. as well.

The preparation has the antifeedant activity against the cabbage aphid (Brevicoryne brassicae L.)( 80-100% of effectiveness).

Conducted toxicology researches have shown that " Tavurae" is a low toxic preparation. As to the treatening level it can be reffered as the drug of the third type of toxicity. Local skin reactions to "Tavurae" were reported as weak ones. Kumulativa properties causing lethal effects were not registered.

The drug has a polytrophic effect to the organism, there haven't been registered any severe intoxication reactions. 'Tavurae" preparation has not been demonstrated as a severe sensitizing agent and there were no allergic reactions at repeated applications to the skin.
