Thirty compounds and their derivatives were investigated in order to find out the repellent and antifeedant activity. All of them were isolated from the plants of family Compositae (Asteraceae) of Kazakhstan. The biological activity of substances was studied on two test-objects of insects: a flour beetle (Tenabrio molitor) and imago of greenhouse whitefly (Trialerodes vaporariorum) with gnawing and suctorial apparatus, respectively. There was used a method of disks from flour in order to evaluate their influence on inhibition of beetles feeding (adults) Sitophilus granariusTribolium confusum and larvae of Tribolium confusum and Trogoderma granarium as well.

Britanine (1), arglabine (2), and hydrochloride dimethylaminoarglabine (3) (demonstrated a high enough repellent activity against the adults of Tenebrio molitor.

Arglabine (2) has demonstrated a strong repellent activity against the imago of greenhouse whitefly (Trialerodes vaporariorum) and arglabine (2), alantolactone (4) and isoalantolactone (5) have demonstrated an antifeedant activity. The results prove that britanine (1) is the effective antifeedant compound against all studied kinds of pests of stocks. As to the adults of Tribolium confusum, britanine (1) and arglabine (2)have demonstrated a high antifeedant activity. It was established that amination by exomethylene group of y-lactone decreased the activity of molecule against the adults of Tribolium confusum. The effective antifeedants against the larvae of Tribolium confusum were britanine (1) arglabin3 (2), dimethylaminoinuchinonolide C (6) and pulchelline C (7).

Spatuline (8) and didesacethylinuchinenolide C(9) demonstrated the weak deterrent effect. The high index of deterrence was observed in larvae of Trogoderma granarium when the disks were treated by gaigranine (10), britanine (1) and dimethylaminoinuchinenolide C (6) and hydrochloride dimethylaminoarglabine (3) revealed a strong antifeedant activity against the adults of Sitophilus granarius.
